PPF & Ceramic Coating After-Care Guide

Initial Curing Period (3-14 days):

If you notice any PPF bubbles, edges lifting, or shrinking after 14 days please call 480-915-5410 to schedule a touch-up. This is perfectly normal, the PPF needs time to cure properly in the sun. AZ High End Auto Team installs PPF for maximum coverage, leaving some edges with more film than necessary. After 14 days we can easily trim any excess PPF.

  • Avoid Water and Chemicals: Allow the PPF and Ceramic Coating to fully bond with the paint by avoiding any water exposure or washes for the first 3 days. Avoid full decontamination washes for 14 days.
  • No Force (PPF): Avoid pushing or touching on any air bubbles or moisture under the film, as they may take up to 14 days to fully dry. Leave vehicle in the sun as much as possible in the first two weeks to allow PPF to fully cure.
  • No Picking (PPF): Never pick at the film’s edges, as this can compromise the installation and adhesive.

Ongoing Maintenance (14 days and beyond):

  • Hand Wash Only: Use a gentle, pH-balanced car shampoo and a soft microfiber cloth or wash mitt.
  • Avoid Automatic Washes: Automatic washes can damage the film’s edges and makes ceramic coatings degrade faster.
  • Use pH-Neutral Soap: Employ a pH-neutral car wash shampoo specifically designed for PPF/ceramic coatings. We recommend Adam’s Carwash Shampoo. Avoid soaps with waxes or fillers as these can affect the ceramic coating.
  • Avoid products with: Wax, petroleum distillates, or harsh chemicals.
  • Two-Bucket Method: Wash using the two-bucket method, one with soap and the other with clean water, to reduce the risk of contaminating the wash mitt.
  • Separate Mitts: Use separate mitts for the body and wheels, as wheels tend to accumulate more dirt.
  • Avoid Direct Sunlight: Don’t wash or dry the car in direct sunlight, as the film can be sensitive to heat.
  • Drying: Dry the car thoroughly with a clean, plush (≥350 GSM) microfiber towel, wiping away from the edges of the film. Air dryers are preferred to reduce risks of light scratches that towels can introduce. Don’t let hard water or rain water sit on the surface.
  • Pressure Washers: If using a pressure washer, keep the nozzle at least 24″ from the surface, use a wide fan tip, do not exceed 2100 PSI, and avoid the edges.
  • Minor Contaminants: Use a gentle, non-abrasive cleaner such as a waterless wash spray to quickly remove sap, bugs, or tar.
  • Regular Cleaning: Clean your protected vehicle at least once a month, or more frequently if driving in harsh conditions. Now that your car is protected, most dirt and debris will easily slide off during a weekly rinse with the hose or pressure washer (see note on pressure washers).
  • Professional Help: If any damage occurs or if you have any product or maintenance questions, contact AZ High End Auto Team at 480-915-5410 for assistance.
